The female contingent of Harris Lamb took over the Birmingham office yesterday as they hosted our first ladies’ networking lunch.

Thirty guests joined Suki Kaur, Fiona Mellor, Sara Elwell, Becky Colclough, Vicky Smirthwaite, Alice Harding and Julie Sanders at our Francis Road office for an opportunity to meet Midlands business women.

Suki thought it was about time the ladies got a look in amongst the number of golf, cricket and football corporate events the Harris Lamb men frequent, so male colleagues were banished to the upper floors as they took over the ground floor conference suite.

We wanted to host the first of what we hope will be many events took place here at Harris lamb HQ to introduce guests to our offices and the ladies who work in our departments.

Organising any kind of event during the working day can be nerve-wracking with factors including heavy workloads, unforeseen crises, double-booked diaries and traffic problems all taking their toll, so we were absolutely thrilled with our turnout.

Over the course of an hour and a half, our guests mingled and made contact, while Billie Frain, a surveyor from Calthorpe Estates’ development team, agreed to do a short presentation about the organisation’s work and forthcoming changes and share its successes. Her passion for the estate and its resident businesses was contagious, and we may already have a contender for our next event after the feedback from her presentation… We also held the obligatory business-card draw, with Cheryl Blount-Powell development manager at the Canal River Trust claiming the bottle of pink fizz!

Already we’ve been asked to make this a regular diary date, so we’re now looking into making our next event even better.

A huge thank you to everyone who made time in their busy schedules to attend and made our inaugural ladies event such a success!
