Nick Empson, Mike Burr and James Willcock

James Willcock, of Harris Lamb’s Residential Land team, who played for Midlands alongside his colleague Nick Empson of the Commercial Agency team, said: “As always, this was a brilliant event raising much-needed funds for vital charities. While the tournament is always quite intense and very competitive, the goal is always the same – to bring property professionals from across the sector together and to make a significant difference to the nominated charities.

“This year’s event was particularly poignant as we took time before kick off with a minute’s silence to honour and remember former Midlands Property player Matt Gallagher, who recently passed away following a battle with motor neurone disease (MND). Matt was a great guy and a sad loss, and it was only fitting that we pay tribute.

“We are delighted to have taken part once again, and speaking for Nick and myself, we are obviously pleased to have pipped our Stoke colleague Mike Burr and his fellow North-West teammates to the post,” he added.

The Midlands Property rugby team, which represents professionals from across the regional property sector, was established in 2008 by Jonathan Robinson and Adam McGuinness. Since its inception, the team has played a key role in bringing the industry together while supporting charitable causes.

The event was supported by a range of leading names from across the property sector, including Midlands main sponsors Stoford and Barberry – North West – Indurent, Chancerygate and JMW – Yorkshire – Panattoni, Verdion and Woodstock Capital Ventures. Additional Midlands event sponsors included Benniman, Savills, Cushman & Wakefield, Colmore Capital, Incore, Harris Lamb, M1 Agency, Caddick, Industrial Agents Society, Cormack, Landra Developments Ltd, Wilkes, Precise, CA Group, One Creative Environments, Frontier Facilities Management alongside rugby charity Wooden Spoon.

The next Tri-Regions tournament will be hosted in the North-West.
