BACK IN THE SADDLE FOR THE CAHORS CHARITY CHALLENGE

Andrew Groves of Harris Lamb’s Agency team is stepping away from the commercial marketplace for a few days this week, and crossing the channel to take part in a 500-mile charity cycling challenge through France.

Andrew is joining Forterra Building Products as a guest rider for the three day challenge, which starts tomorrow in Saint Malo on the north coast. He will be one of eight riders cycling in two teams for Forterra in the event, which is taking place for the first time since 2019.

Andrew said: “I was delighted to be invited to join the Forterra team for the Cahors Cycling Challenge, and I’ve been getting plenty of practice in the saddle in preparation for the miles ahead. The adventure will see us tackle a rigorous route, which begins in Saint Malo and ends just north of Toulouse in Cahors, following the Loire and taking in breathtaking scenery of Saumur, Vienne and Limoges.

“Fortunately, the rules enable us to share the mileage, taking our turn to cycle in relay fashion. The event will be tough, but extremely rewarding, and as a team we have been raising sponsorship for a number of important causes. We set a £2,500 target for our efforts, and with that figure having already been exceeded, we’re thrilled to know we’ve got so much support on our journey,” he added.

The team is predominantly supporting Mind, with 50 per cent of all monies raised being donated to the mental health charity, while the  remaining funds being divided between The British Heart Foundation, Cancer Research UK and NHS Charities.
