BAKERY CHAIN CHOOSES RUGBY’S SWAN CENTRE AS LOCATION FOR LATEST FRANCHISE

A popular bakery chain has become the latest occupier at a Rugby shopping centre, further enhancing its reputation as a core provider of retail and dining options for the town.

Eggfree Cake Box, which specialises in producing high quality eggless, vegetarian cream cakes, has signed a 15-year lease at the Swan Centre, and has opened its doors to showcase its mouthwatering selection of treats.

Harris Lamb, which manages the scheme on behalf of the landlord and acts as letting agents alongside Space Retail and Hartnell Taylor Cook, secured the business as the latest occupier, with Eggfree Cake Box now launching in Unit 9a.

Tejinder Singh, of EggfreeCake Box, said: “Since The Eggfree Cake Box was launched in 2008, the concept has grown to see more than 180 branches across the UK, with 20 being opened during the Covid-19 pandemic as people put more importance on affordable luxuries and sending treats to loved ones.

“Half the battle with establishing a new franchise is choosing the right location, and I think Rugby is an ideal site for the brand. It’s a vibrant, diverse town and I spent a lot of time choosing the right place to site the shop. The Swan Centre has a great mix of retailers and restaurants, and we’re confident the store will fit in well,” he added.

David Walton, Head of Retail at Harris Lamb, who oversaw the letting, said: “As Tejinder says, The Swan Centre is a great location for the business, benefitting from a number of complementary businesses and high footfall levels.

“Confidence in the town and the centre in particular has remained high in spite of the pandemic, with a steady reduction in the number of vacant units, to the point that we have just one unit remaining.

“With the diverse range of retailers, eateries and entertainment options now available at the centre, we are confident similar businesses will be attracted to the site to cement its reputation as a visitor destination within the region,” he added.

Other occupiers at the Swan Centre include The Entertainer, Costa, Bar ‘n’ Par, Libertine Burger and Kaspas.
