HARRIS LAMB WELCOMES ASSISTANT ECOLOGIST TO THE GREEN TEAM
Harris Lamb has expanded its Ecology team with the appointment of an Assistant Ecologist to support the business with an increasing number of national instructions.
Jordan Cooper, who holds a master’s degree in wildlife Conservation from the University of Chester, joins the business further to spending 18 months as a Seasonal Ecologist at Jacobs.
Nat Walsh, Director of Harris Lamb’s Ecology department, welcomed Jordan to the business, saying: “Our team has been exceptionally busy for the past few months and Jordan joins us at a critical time.
“He brings a thorough understanding of preliminary ecological assessments (PEAs), Bat potential roosting feature (PRF) identification, Bat emergence surveys and Great Crested Newt DNA collection, and is well-versed in data handling, statistical analysis, and GIS mapping, making him a welcome addition to the department.
“With green credentials, ecological accountability and Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) now essential factors in the planning and execution of commercial and residential projects, our team has a number of projects underway and scheduled throughout the coming months, and we are delighted to have Jordan on board to hit the ground running,” she added.
Jordan said: “My experience with Jacobs has provided me with a firm grounding within the field, allowing me to gain a deeper understanding of the real-world logistics behind environmental work, carry out consultation for high-profile clients including the Historic Railways Estate and National Grid, and lead the Birmingham team during Natural England’s 2024/25 English Ecosystem Survey (EES) season, and I’m excited to join Harris Lamb at such an important time.
“I was drawn to the position of Assistant Ecologist at Harris Lamb as it represented an important step forward in my ecological career, offering the opportunity to apply my skills and enthusiasm within a highly respected consultancy. I am eager to further develop by learning from my colleagues, contributing to a variety of meaningful projects, and helping to deliver positive environmental outcomes at a local level. I also keen to continue building my professional expertise, through working towards relevant licences and achieving CIEEM membership in the not-too-distant future,” he said.
