CYCLE FOR SMART WORKS: 300 MILES DOWN WITH THE END IN SIGHT!

Team HL’s seven-day Cycle for Smart Works Challenge is well underway, with less than 200 miles to go over the next three days, despite being one man down due to a badly-timed Covid infection.

The Cycle for Smart Works Challenge sees teams work together to collectively pedal 500 miles within seven days, raising money for the charity, whether it’s on the road, in the gym, or at home, with Team HL – aka Fiona Mellor, John Pearce, Andy Groves and Andy Smith – having commenced their challenge on Monday.

The team aims to raise £500 for Smart Works Birmingham in order to provide essential support for women who need it, supplying them with suitable clothing for interviews to help them enter the workplace to become financially independent.

The team’s tally currently stands at 312 miles, despite Andy Smith testing positive last week. With 188 miles left to cover over the next three days, and Andy determined to push the pedals before the cut-off point, the team is confident it will hit the 500 mile mark, and hopes to match that with £500 sponsorship.

The fearsome foursome have so far raised more than half of the target sum, and hope to meet the £500 mark by Sunday – to help them do that, please donate at the Team HL Velo Just Giving page.
