TRY NOT TO TAKES SIDES: THE COUNTDOWN TO THE TRI-REGIONS PROPERTY RUGBY TOURNAMENT IS ON
The much-anticipated Tri-Regions Property Rugby Tournament returns to the Midlands for 2026, and the stakes are high as three of Harris Lamb’s sportsmen take to the field for their respective club.
Harris Lamb are a sponsor for the competition, which will this year raise money for The Lewis Moody Foundation and the Alzheimer’s Society.
Held in association with children’s charity Wooden Spoon, the tournament is being hosted by Midlands Property RFC, who will welcome NorthWest Property RFC and Yorkshire Property RFC to Avery Fields in Birmingham on March 18th.
As you’d expect, with the competition just around the corner, our Birmingham and Stoke offices are vibrating with smack talk between Midlands front-row hooker James Willcock and back-row Nick Empson, and Mike Burr, back-row hooker for NorthWest.

L-R: Mike, James and Nick.
It may sound like the banter is unfairly stacked in favour of the Midlands, but as Mike has been quick to point out, NorthWest are the reigning Property Tri-Region champions and have no intention of relinquishing their title.
The event, now in its 14th year, will bring together players from across the property industry in all three regions while raising funds and awareness of three important causes.

James said: “I’ve always enjoyed playing in this tournament and with it being played on home turf this time – for Nick and I at least – I’m really looking forward to the day. There’s always a massive sense of camaraderie and it’s great to catch up with contacts and colleagues from across the sector.
“Mike and I have played against each other before and I’m looking forward to Nick joining us this time. With the tournament only coming to the Midlands once every three years, this is likely to be my last run out competitively, so I’m determined to make it one to remember!”
Mike added: “There was a cracking atmosphere around this tournament last time, and it was a thoroughly enjoyable day, not least because of the amount of support it brings for the causes it is in aid of. The event is always held in conjunction with Wooden Spoon, a long-standing rugby supporters’ charity which helps disabled, disadvantaged and vulnerable children and young people, and will this year raise further funds to help with research into and the care of those with dementia and brain tumours courtesy of the nominated charities.
“I look forward to meeting James and Nick on the pitch, and to the NorthWest retaining the trophy once again.”
Nick added: “The Harris Lamb team have always been competitive and fierce fundraisers, but we’re usually on the same team, so this is a slightly different dynamic for me. I’ve played in this tournament prior to joining Harris Lamb and I’m chuffed to have been selected again – hopefully we’ll raise plenty for these important causes and there won’t be any foul play!”
Anyone wishing to support any of the teams – let’s not forget this is meant to be a friendly tournament- is welcome to attend the competition at Avery Fields, 79 Samson Road, Birmingham. The first game kicks off at 12.30pm.
Remember, it’s the taking part that counts!
