ONE (BIG) STEP CLOSER TO THE WORLD SCOUT JAMBOREE
If you know us at all, you’ll know we’re all about buildings here at Harris Lamb, but our Head of Retail, David Walton, is taking his enthusiasm for them a bit far – later today he and his daughter Laura will be jumping off one!
Okay, we’re exaggerating, but the father-daughter duo will be donning their harnesses to abseil from the roof of 3 Brindleyplace – a 40-metre, six storey descent – to raise funds for Coventry Scouts to attend the World Scout Jamboree in 2027.

David said: “This is one of the most significant events in the global Scouting movement, bringing together thousands of young people from around the world to celebrate unity, adventure, and cultural exchange. In 2027 it is being held in Gdansk, Poland, and a total of 36 Scouts and Explorers aged 14-18 from Coventry and Solihull are undertaking various fundraising events to cover unit expenses for the once-in-a-lifetime event to join the UK Contingent.
“Laura has been selected to do this via an application process, and while neither of us are fond of heights, we’re committed to helping our group raise the funds we need to be in attendance at Gdansk next year.
“We’re aiming to raise £1000, and we’re over halfway thanks to generous donations from our friends and colleagues. We’ll report back when we hit the ground!”
Held approximately every four years, the Jamboree is a gathering unlike any other, offering Scouts the opportunity to experience a world of diversity while participating in activities that foster personal growth, leadership, and global citizenship.
