shutterstock_259339190The Black Friday phenomenon is no longer the online secret for savvy shoppers that it once was – the last Friday in November is now one of the biggest dates in the retail calendar, and is expected to extend itself to a full week as retailer capitalise on the opportunity.
A survey carried out by software firm SAS has revealed that one in five UK shoppers will be attracted by Black Friday, and that the day – associated with massive discounts and deals – is more popular than Christmas week when it comes to seasonal shopping.
It’s something more and more retails – independent and chains alike – are keen to make their mark on, with many wanting to secure a high street presence in advance of that date to ensure footfall and cash-flow.
