TEAM HL COMPLETE ST BASILS HIKE CHALLENGE TO RAISE FUNDS FOR YOUNG PEOPLE AT RISK OF HOMELESSNESS
Harris Lamb has completed its latest charity initiative, having completed a 24.5-mile hike through Kinver Edge and Wyre Forest to raise money to support young people at risk of homelessness in the West Midlands.
Tom Morley and Simon Hawley took part in the St Basils Hike for Homeless on Saturday, tackling the most challenging route through the region.

St Basils works with young people aged 16-25 who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, helping almost 4,000 young people per year across the West Midlands region with specific services in Birmingham, Coventry, Evesham, Leamington Spa, Sandwell, Solihull, Walsall, Warwickshire, Worcestershire and the Wyre Forest.
This year’s event saw the team complete the 24.5-mile route in eight-and-a-half hours, taking in stunning scenery throughout the region, though the temperature presented more of a challenge than they’d hoped!
Tom said: “It was extremely hot, and while it was a long day, it made it all the more rewarding by the time we reached the finish line. We’re keen hikers, and St Basils always put together a very well thought out event with fabulous routes, with this year being no exception. We are always keen to do our bit to help to raise funds and awareness of the charity’s work to provide essential support to young people who are either homeless or at risk of being so.
“Every year, the charity houses up to 1,000 young people in one of its supported accommodation schemes, with some of those supported having children of their own. By providing a range of outreach, advice, support, accommodation, employability and engagement services to help young people regain the stability they need to rebuild their lives, gain skills, and secure employment, St Basils aims to help them successfully break the ‘cycle of homelessness’ so that they can go on to experience a bright, fulfilling future.
“These services and schemes come at a cost, and events like this are essential to help raise both awareness and funds, thereby enabling St Basils to continue to provide them,” he added.
