A surveyor at Harris Lamb is celebrating after years of study were rewarded with a First-Class degree in Real Estate.
Becky Thomas, from the business’ Stoke office, has spent the
past five years studying for a Bachelor of Science with Honours degree in Real
Estate at Birmingham City University, and can finally put those letters after
her name, having secured a First-Class qualification.
Becky, who specialises in the North Staffordshire and South
Cheshire markets, achieved her AssocRICS qualification five years ago, and
continued with her studies to advance her experience within the sector.
She said: “It has been quite a long slog, but I’ve had lots
of support from my Harris Lamb colleagues in providing advice and guidance,
being my sounding board and allowing me time to study and attend lectures once
a week for the past five years.
“I’ve had brilliant on-the-job training and experience here,
working across various parts of the business and thoroughly enjoying finding my
niche in the Agency department.
“I’m thrilled that this part of the journey is over and that
I was awarded such a high grade – it makes it all worthwhile. This degree is
the stepping stone to allowing me to progress my career further and I intend to
sit the RICS Assessment for Professional Competence next year in order to
become a chartered member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.”
Andrew Groves, Director, said: “We are all so proud of Becky. She joined Harris Lamb back in 2008 as a trainee, and once she decided that she was keen to advance her knowledge and experience, she never looked back.
“She’s spent more than a decade developing her skills has
committed a huge amount of her own free time to studying for her degree, all
while doing a fantastic job for us, and it really has paid off. We’re all
absolutely delighted for her.”
