WELDON LAND PARCEL SOLD FOR FOUR-HOME DEVELOPMENT

Harris Lamb has sold a Northamptonshire land parcel for a development of four homes.

A private developer purchased the plot off Stamford Road in Weldon for £180,000.

Acting on behalf of Tata Steel UK Ltd, the Harris Lamb Residential Land team identified the site as being suitable for residential development and applied for planning permission for four new homes.

Further to the permission being refused by Corby Borough Council, Harris Lamb lodged an appeal with the Planning Inspectorate, which was upheld in January 2020.

Sam Silcocks, of Harris Lamb’s Planning Consultancy team, said: “This is a small plot with a number of complex issues, not least the fact that it is a greenfield site located in a Weldon Conservation Area and adjoins a Scheduled Ancient Monument.

“Working closely with the developer, we were able to overcome the concerns raised by the Council in relation to the principle of development, archaeology, highways, design, contamination and residential amenity to secure consent for the proposed development.”

The plot was purchased within weeks of permission being secured, and construction on the new homes is expected to start later this year.
