KICKING OFF FOR DUDLEY CVS: TEAM HL SET TO COMPETE IN HIGGS LLP CHARITY FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT

Team HL are dusting off their football boots in readiness for the annual Higgs LLP charity football tournament this Week.

More than 40 teams will take part in this year’s tournament, which will be held at Stourbridge Rugby Football Club on Thursday afternoon, raising funds for Dudley CVS (Council for Voluntary Services).

Tom Morley, who is Captain of Team HL, said: “Higgs LLP have been hosting this six-a-side tournament for a number of years now, and have raised thousands of pounds for various charities. It’s always a really well organised event, a lot of fun, and a great way to network with a diverse range of Midlands businesses.

“This year, the business has chosen to support Dudley CVS, focusing on the organisation’s Kindness
Campaign, #bekinddudley. The CVS supports a wide range of voluntary and community groups, charities and social enterprises within the Dudley borough, and the proceeds from this year’s tournament will be split at the end of the year between local charities such as the Black Country Food Bank, Black Country Blokes and Brockmoor Animal Sanctuary.”

Further to the series of ten-minute group matches, Higgs will host a barbecue before the knock-out stages and plate fixtures commence, with the day culminating post final with an awards presentation and drinks.

Tom said: “We’re delighted that we’ve been invited to compete in this event once again, which obviously had a hiatus due to Covid. We’re thoroughly looking forward to getting our kit on and helping raise funds for local groups.

“The afternoon will start with the group stages, and Harris Lamb has been placed in Group F, along with Higgs LLP’s second team, 8848, Azets and Prosperity Wealth. We’re hoping to make it through to the final but there’s some stiff competition, so we’re not counting our chickens. Either way, we’re guaranteed a great afternoon in great company,” he added.
