ON HER MARKS FOR THE WORCESTER CITY RUN

Harris Lamb’s resident runner Fiona Mellor will take to the road again this weekend when she tackles the Worcester City Run.

The 10k run is now in its third year, takes in some of the most beautiful sights of the city, including the Cathedral, the viaduct and the River Severn.

Fiona is no stranger to lacing up her trainers and setting a personal best: she has taken part in the run for the past two years, as well as having completed the Great North Run and the Great Birmingham Run several times. Yes, she’s one of those people who runs for fun.

Fiona said: “I took part in this last year and achieved a new personal best, as well as getting the chance to run with Jo Pavey, so I’m looking forward to completing it again this year. This is the third time I’ll have taken part, and last year saw 50 per cent more entrants, so I’m hopeful that this year will be even better.

“This year, rather than running for a specific charity, I’m just doing it to be a part of it, and I’m taking my colleague Neil Slade along for the experience; though in a couple of weeks time I will be competing in the Wild Warrior Mud Run alongside some of my fellow rugby mums from Stourbridge Rugby Club to raise funds for Mary Stevens Hospice. While Sunday’s run will be no walk in the park, it’ll certainly be a good warm up for October 1st!”
