Fi’s first Spotive cycle challenge goes wheel-y well!

Our resident road-runner Fiona Mellor swapped her pedometer for a set of wheels this weekend to take part in her first Sportive event in aid of Compton Hospice.

Fiona took part in the Banks’s Round the Wrekin Sportive 2017, which is now in its second year.

Pedal power: Suzy and Fi

Starting at Dudley Kingswinford rugby club, the route continued into the Shropshire Hills taking in the famous Ironbridge at Coalbrookdale and The Wrekin.
Fiona said: “This is the first Sportive event I’ve ever taken part in and I absolutely loved it.
“Happily, the weather was very much on my side as I covered 65 miles and climbed more than 3,700ft along the route. It was a very exhilarating experience in support of an excellent cause.
“I completed the course in 5hrs, alongside my cycling comrade Suzy Scriven, and we’re currently collecting sponsorship money to add to the Compton Hospice grand total to help it continue to deliver its excellent service to patients and their families.
