CYCLING WITH SEDDON: THE 60-MILE ON-THE-ROAD NETWORKING EVENT

Harris Lamb’s super-keen cycling crew jumped back into the saddle this month to take part in a networking event with a twist – insomuch that it took place over a 60-mile challenge.

The Seddon Tour de Peak District took place last Friday (September 22nd), having been organised by construction specialists Seddon.

The event saw more than 70 participants from varying professional services sectors congregate at Shrigley Hall in Macclesfield before being divided into teams for a staggered start and on-the-road networking.

Andrew Groves and Mike Burr from Harris Lamb’s Stoke office were joined by Fiona Mellor of the Valuation team, Andy Smith from our Lease Advisory department and John Pearce from our Planning Consultancy – all of whom are seasoned cyclists who will jump at any chance to hit the road on two wheels!

Mike said: “This was such a refreshing approach to networking; ensuring that everyone took themselves out of the conference room and into the great outdoors to get to know more about one another, the businesses and sectors we each work within, and to get the blood pumping as well as ideas flowing.

“The whole route took in 60 miles of wonderful views and villages throughout the Peak District and Cheshire, and while the first half of the ride saw fine, dry weather, by the time we headed out of the hills for the second portion of the event, it was well and truly torrential, and everyone was soaked but exhilarated all the same!

“The event was extremely well organised, with Seddon ensuring vans followed all participants with refreshments and repair kits in case they were needed, and we made some great contacts as well as thoroughly enjoying the day – we’d like to thank Seddon for including us and for coming up with such an innovative approach to corporate networking!”
